One of the preeminent British Pop Artists of our time...
In Memory of Peter Phillips (1939–2025)
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Peter Phillips, beloved father, and founding figure of the British Pop Art movement. Peter passed away peacefully on Monday, 23 June, surrounded by love.
Since 2015, Peter had been living in Australia with his daughter Zoe Phillips-Price and Read Price. As his health gradually declined, he faced each chapter with dignity, wit, and a creative spirit that never dimmed.
In true Peter fashion, he never wished for a traditional farewell. Instead, a celebration of his life will be held in late August at his gallery in Noosa, Australia. It will be a small, meaningful gathering, with ways for people around the world to be part of it and pay tribute to the extraordinary life he lived.
To honour Peter’s legacy and support the next generation of artists, the family is establishing The Peter Phillips Foundation – a grant and residency initiative that reflects his belief in bold, boundary-pushing creativity. Peter often credited his success to the opportunity he had to attend Moseley School of Art – a place that once nurtured young talent like his. The Foundation will carry that spirit forward.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to help launch the Foundation are warmly appreciated. You can find the GoFundMe link here: https://www.gofundme.com/peter-phillips-foundation
Thank you for being part of Peter’s world, and for continuing to celebrate the colour, curiosity, and imagination he brought into ours. ❤️
